Thanksgiving Baskets 2024

This November, our 8th graders will take on a meaningful project to organize and prepare 30-40 Thanksgiving Baskets for families in our community. Each basket will include items for a traditional Thanksgiving meal along with ingredients for at least two additional meals to support these families. Our community partner, Streams of Hope, will provide us with a list of families in need, ensuring that each basket reaches a deserving household.

To make this initiative successful, each grade level has been assigned specific food items to bring in:

  • Young 5's/Kindergarten: cereal

  • 1st Grade: canned corn and/or canned pears

  • 2nd Grade: canned beans and/or canned peaches

  • 3rd Grade: jam or jelly and/or Jello

  • 4th Grade: applesauce and/or soup

  • 5th Grade: muffin mix and/or peanut butter

  • 6th Grade: brownie mix and/or boxed potatoes

  • 7th Grade: stuffing and/or mac and cheese

  • 8th Grade: bread/dinner rolls and/or cookies

There are tables set up in both campuses for students to drop off the supplies.

Important Request – Thanksgiving Turkeys Needed!

To complete the baskets, we are asking our Legacy families to consider donating a frozen turkey. If you’re able to help, please bring a turkey to the West Campus building starting on November 6. Your generosity in providing this special item is deeply appreciated and will make these Thanksgiving meals complete for the families we serve.

The Food Drive will conclude on Friday, November 22, and the baskets will be assembled and delivered by our 8th-grade students on Tuesday, November 26. We’re deeply grateful for your ongoing support of this project, as it’s an invaluable opportunity for our students to grow as Kingdom Builders and engage in community service. Tables have been set up at school to collect these items, and we encourage everyone to contribute as they are able. For any questions, please reach out to Matt Veltema at mveltema@legacycs.org.

Thank you for helping us make this Thanksgiving season brighter for those in our community!
